The CSC recently hosted two sold-out workshops with renowned camera operator and director Stephen Campanelli. Held in Toronto at 2D House on November 24 and Montreal at Grandé Studios on December 1, the one-day masterclasses provided attendees with practical, hands-on insights into scene blocking and communication—key elements in creating compelling cinematic moments.
Participants were treated to live demonstrations and scene enactments, where Campanelli shared his expertise honed over decades of experience working on acclaimed films, including collaborations with Clint Eastwood. Attendees not only learned valuable technical techniques but also gained a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Hollywood’s approach to storytelling.
The workshops were met with an enthusiastic response from the CSC community and industry professionals. Bruno Philip csc, who organized the event, noted that Campanelli’s ability to bridge the roles of camera operator and director made the masterclasses particularly impactful.
These events underscored the CSC’s mission to provide members with meaningful opportunities to connect with and learn from industry leaders, while advancing their craft through shared knowledge and experience.
