Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story, shot by associate member Adam Crosby, has won a prestigious Peabody Award. Directed by Michael Mabbott and Lucah Rosenberg-Lee, the inventive documentary celebrates the life of Jackie Shane, a groundbreaking trans soul singer who lit up Toronto’s music scene in the 1960s before fading from the spotlight. The film blends archival audio, animation, and interviews to tell Shane’s powerful story. A co-production from Banger Films and the NFB, it will be honoured at the Peabody Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on June 1.
