The CSC congratulates our members who shot films that won awards at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival:

People’s Choice Documentary Award: The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal, shot by Chris Romeike csc
(Presented by Rogers)

“I’m most proud of working with a stellar crew to create a relaxed and professional atmosphere on set, creating a low profile so the director and our subjects could connect while having multiple cameras and at times extensive lighting for a doc.”

NETPAC Award: The Last of the Sea Women, shot by Iris Ng
(Presented by the Network for the Promotion of Asian Pacific Cinema)

“I am particularly heartened to have this film premiere at TIFF as my home festival. I’ve been attending since being an aspiring filmmaker during my film school days and feel particularly connected to it. It’s always wonderful to be a part of this prestigious festival and especially meaningful to be recognized with the NETPAC award that promotes filmmaking from an Asian perspective.”
– Iris Ng

Short Cuts Awards are for Best Canadian Film: Are You Scared To Be Yourself Because You Think That You Might Fail, shot by Alice Stephens

“I am especially proud of how I discovered my voice and embraced my style with the support of a fantastic crew. I believe that truly great work comes from a place of sincerity and vulnerability, so being welcomed into TIFF and receiving the award for Best Canadian Film reinforces this philosophy for me.”
– Alice Stephens
