Committees

CSC committees drive the organization’s core work, each taking ownership of a critical area that shapes the Society’s impact, standards, and member experience. These committees provide leadership, oversight, and expertise, ensuring the CSC stays accountable, forward-looking, and aligned with the evolving needs of our community.

The CSC runs on member involvement – every screening, award show, workshop, and community initiative exists because members step up to make it happen.

Committees are where that work takes shape. When members contribute their time, expertise, and perspective – whether through committees, events, or mentorship – the entire Society moves forward.

Step up and get involved. If you are interested in joining a committee, please fill out our sign up form.

Committee chairs review all submissions and bring on new members based on current needs and capacity.

It reviews and approves membership applications, coordinates Full Member Juries as required, and conducts interviews to ensure applicants meet the Society’s standards and contribute to the strength of the CSC community. Mentorship

The Mentorship Committee oversees an ongoing program designed to make cinematography more inclusive and expand diversity behind the camera. It pairs mentors and mentees, recruits Full and Associate Members as mentors, and sets clear expectations for both roles. The committee prioritizes applicants from underrepresented groups while welcoming candidates from all backgrounds. It also checks in on pairings to ensure they’re progressing effectively and reviews feedback and data to continually refine and strengthen the program.
