The CSC Awards Gala has always been a highlight of the year for the society. It celebrates the artistry of Canadian cinematographers and gives us the opportunity to acknowledge their hard work and craft. On top of that, it is a great party. This year, for the first time ever, the celebration was postponed. The pandemic that is reshaping the world has necessitated making some hard decisions. While we had hoped that the gala would simply be delayed until the summer or fall, that has proven to be unrealistic.
We have therefore made the hard call to officially cancel this year’s gala and will make an announcement on July 16th to reveal the 2020 CSC Awards winners. We are optimistic that we will be able to have our next live gala in 2021. At that time, we will have our nominees cocktail night where both years will receive their nominee plaques. Then, the 2020 winners will be invited to the live event to receive their awards in front of their peers.
